Grant Applications
The Ocala Police Department is committed to keeping our community safe. We're applying for several grants to help improve public safety, reduce crime, and support community programs. By securing grants, we aim to strengthen our efforts in making Ocala a safe place for everyone while saving taxpayer's money.
The Ocala Police Department is applying for the following grants during the 2024/2025 fiscal year:
- Bulletproof Vest Program -This grant provides critical funding to equip law enforcement officers with life-saving body armor, enhancing their safety and protection during high-risk situations.
- Speed and Aggressive Driving (Florida Department of Transportation- FDOT) - This grant supports initiatives to combat speed and aggressive driving, promoting safer roads and protecting vulnerable road users through high visibility enforcement and community engagement.
- Motorcycle Safety Program (Florida Department of Transportation- FDOT) -This grant supports initiatives to reduce motorcycle-related crashes, injuries, and fatalities through rider education, awareness campaigns, and high visibility enforcement.
- FY 23 Project Safe Neighborhood -The PSN program is designed to create and foster safer neighborhoods through a sustained reduction in violent crime, including but not limited to, addressing criminal gangs and the felonious possession and use of firearms.
- VOCA -This grant will enable our agency to deliver comprehensive support to victims of crime, promoting healing, safety, and justice.
- FY 24 Local Justice Assistance Grant (Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance) - Funding will support overtime, supplies, and equipment for our community programming.
- FEMA -Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC) - Funding will enable our department to invest in infrastructure projects that enhance disaster preparedness, reduce risk, and promote long-term resilience.
- JAG23 - Countywide (Florida Department of Law Enforcement -FDLE)- The Edward Byrne Justice Grant Program is a formula grant to cities and municipalities based on crime and statistics. Funding will purchase equipment that will facilitate the secure storage, tracking and management of evidence in our district offices.
