Application Process
Applicants are required to apply online on the City of Ocala website. First, create a profile and sign up for E-Notify. If you do not find the position you are seeking listed, check back often as available opportunities can change daily.
When applying for a sworn position with the Ocala Police Department, you will be expected to complete:
- Written exam
- Oral board interview
- Polygraph
- Background investigation
- Psychological evaluation
- Interview with the deputy chief and chief of police
- Physical examination
During the first year of employment, police officers can expect:
- Orientation
- 16 weeks of field training
- 12-month probationary period
