Application Process

Applicants are required to apply online on the City of Ocala website. First, create a profile and sign up for E-Notify. If you do not find the position you are seeking listed, check back often as available opportunities can change daily.

When applying for a sworn position with the Ocala Police Department, you will be expected to complete:

  1. Written exam
  2. Oral board interview
  3. Polygraph
  4. Background investigation
  5. Psychological evaluation
  6. Interview with the deputy chief and chief of police
  7. Physical examination

During the first year of employment, police officers can expect:

  • Orientation
  • 16 weeks of field training
  • 12-month probationary period
