Mentorship Program

The Ocala Public Safety Mentoring Program is a free 10-week program that offers high school students the opportunity to explore first-hand what a career in public safety looks like. Our program is a community outreach program that will hopefully inspire some to pursue a career in public safety.  We meet one evening per week for two hours.

Throughout the program, high schoolers get to interact with public safety professionals and participate in various activities, including traffic stops, building searches, defense training tactics, a driving pad experience, a firearms simulator, 9-1-1 dispatch, evidence processing/collection, CPR/stop the bleed, and much more.

The program also focuses on character development, life skills training, and positive decision-making. Through these interactions and group activities, police officers can share their own experiences, offer advice on how to handle difficult situations, and ultimately steer youth in a positive direction toward a brighter future. All staff members are employees of the Ocala Police Department and Ocala Fire Department.

This program is an incredible opportunity for anyone interested in a career in law enforcement. For more information or to sign up, please hit the link below for an on-line application.  Please, email Major Steve Cuppy at scuppy@ocalapd.gov if you have any questions.
